I went to the Nualeargais website to find answers and it said – ‘The indirect object in Irish is always following the verbal noun. The preposition ‘a’ = to, is not used
e.g Tá áthas orm siúil le Máire : I am happy to walk with MáireSo I tried coming up with my own sentences which follow those rules – Verbal noun then indirect object.
Is féidir leo déanamh rudaí éagsúla.
Ba chóir dom ceannach é do m’athair.
Is féidir liom tabhairt sin agaibh.They don’t look right. Something is definitely wrong 😆
I now know what to do with direct object sentences:
Ba chóir dóibh na daoine tinn a chabhrú.
Ba chóir dóibh gach uile fhuinneog a dhúnadh sa teach.But how do you structure the sentence with an indirect object? I,m hoping someone could point out the mistakes i,m making, Thank you.
rudaí éagsúla, é, sin are direct objects.
do m’athair, daoibh are indirect object.
Is féidir leo rudaí éagsúla a dhéanamh.
Ba chóir dom é a cheannach do m’athair.
Is féidir liom sin a thabhairt daoibh.
