artist?

Could someone please explain the difference between the terms for artist I have found? (Like when do you use each one?)

ealaíontóir
fear-ealain

I’ve found some other words, but these seem to be most consistent, I just am not sure when they are used.

is the common word for artist, ealaíontóra is the genitive

I’ve never come across “fear ealaín”

Ealaín also has the meaning of tricking or playing.

Ná bí ag ealaín liom. – etc.

I don’t know but that might have the meaning of somebody who plays around.

Or is it meant to be genitive – ‘fear ealaíne’ – a man of art, artist (in the more general sense)?

The first would seem to mean something like a juggler; the latter an Artist as we would understand it (Ó Conaire is a writer)

There were two other similar references compared to 2660 for ealaíontóir.
