Teachers’ Workshop
Ceardlann na Múinteoirí
February 14 – 15, 2016
Daltaí na Gaeilge arranges a workshop every February for the benefit of Irish language instructors, and our 2016 Teachers’ Workshop will be held on February 14 – 15 in Esopus, New York. We are very pleased this year that Gearóid Ó Drisceoil will be coming over from Ireland to be with us and direct the program, thanks to generous support from the Fulbright Commission.
Gearóid earned his B.A. Degree (first class honours) from University College Dublin (Béaloideas Éireann agus Gaeilge) in the year 2005. After that he received his Masters Degree (first class honours again!) from the same University (Scríobh agus Cumarsáid na Gaeilge). Between 2011 – 2014 he was Senior Irish Language Instructor at OÉ Má Nuad (Maynooth University). There he served as chief examiner for the TEG exams, with responsibility for correcting examination papers. (Oh my!)
At present Gearóid is an Irish language teacher at Pobalscoil Phort Mearnóg, in Portmarnock (Port Mearnóg), Dublin. And in the summer he serves as Vice-principal of Coláiste Chamuis, in Conamara, County Galway. Oh, and did we mention that he founded his own business firm which is called Clash? (www.clash.ie) Their offerings provide for a hands-on experience of Gaelic Games to tourists and foreign students. Beidh spórt againn, gan amhras!
Online registration and payment are available for the Teachers’ Workshop. General Information, Directions and a Registration Form are available through this link: http://www.daltai.com/shop/
