    Taken from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Gaeltacht

“In a special report on 13 January 2009 on Nuacht TG4 news, it was confirmed that a group in Ballymun, in conjunction with the local branch of Glór na nGael, had received planning permission to build 40 homes for people who want to live in an Irish-speaking community in the heart of the city.
Ballymun, a predominantly working-class area, already has two Gaelscoileanna (Irish-medium primary schools).[3][4]. Irish language classes will be organised for those who want to improve their Irish. It is expected that the project will be complete by the end of 2012. The group hopes that their project may become a prototype for other similar mini-Ghaeltachts around the country.”

Does anyone know anything more about this? I can’t find any recent information. Is it still in the works?

I’ve tried searching as well. You could try contacting http://www.glornangael.ie/ as that was the group mentioned to be involved in organizing it. Other than that I can find little information on the subject. Another suggestion would be perhaps attempting to contact TG4 about it…. maybe they could do a follow up special? Hope I helped.

I heard from a guy from Ballymun in my CnaG class in Dublin that it was still in existence.

not concrete evidence to be sure.
