“Grian” as intensifier?

    Dia daoibh.

    I’m sure that when I was at school I learned the phrase “grian grá” as an intensifier for plain old grá. As in “táim I ngrian grá lei”. Or it might have been ‘grianghrá’. Whichever way, I can’t now find it in in my dictionaries. Is it a real idiom, or is this another time I misheard a nun?

    Interesting. There’s the endearment “grianán” (darling), could that be the one you’re after? Or perhaps “dianghrá” (passionate love)?

    It’s entirely possible, but I can’t help but wonder if you actually are thinking of “gealghrá”.
