Dia daoibh, a chairde!

A friend of mine posed a question as to what the proper idiom for light switch would be as Gaeilge. She listed ‘an lasc solais’, ‘an athrú solas’, and ‘ an athrú bhfianaise’ as possible translations for “light switch” but then questioned whether that would even be the proper idiom. Perhaps it would be “light button”?

Can anyone tell us what the proper Irish would be and what English idiom (if applicable) would apply?

    Go raibh mile maith agaibh!!

    Grannt

Edit: séimhiú ar an bhfocal “solais”

    lasc sholais

De réir cosúlachta, úsáidtear foirm ghinideach an fhocail mar aidiacht, agus tar éis an fhocail baininscneach “lasc”, séimhítear é.

Ó, tá an ceart agat ar ndóigh, séimhítear.

Níor chuala mé féin ag muintir na Gaeltachta ach “switch” an Bhéarla…

‘an athrú solas’, and ’ an athrú bhfianaise’

I don’t know where she got these – they’re not even remotely correct, idiomatically or grammatically. What the above responders said is correct.
