Music and Language

I was wondering if there are and Irish learners here who play music, specifically Irish Traditional Music. I play banjo, mandolin and guitar and have lately trying to improve my Irish tenor banjo skills. I find it helpful to learn language in the context of the culture.

I play many instruments and have learned some Irish tunes. I am not big on learning songs in general – usually I’ll learn parts of songs that appeal to me but not always the whole thing. Irish tunes are fairly straightforward though, because they usually only consist of a couple of sections. Most of the Irish stuff I’ve learned has either been on guitar or violin, although I adapted a couple to accordion as well.
