KeymasterTeachers’ Workshop
(Ceardlann na Múinteoirí)
Dé Sathairn,
13 Feabhra 2021Daltaí na Gaeilge organizes a workshop every February for the benefit of Irish language instructors; and we are happy to announce that we will present our 2021 Teachers’ Workshop via Zoom on Saturday, the 13th of February. Bernard Ó Cathmhaoil served as director of the program last year, and everyone was very much impressed with his presentation. We are delighted that Bernard will be with us again this year, thanks to generous support from The Fulbright Commission in Ireland.
Bernard earned his Post-graduate Degree from St. Patrick’s College, Dublin in 2010. He has been teaching ever since then. He possesses advanced fluency in the Irish language, and has an expertise in teaching through the medium of Irish. He is in his fourth year as an instructor at an all-Irish primary school in County Monaghan. Bernard has a keen interest in the environment, and he enjoys the opportunity to incorporate the local natural world in his teaching.
Bernard takes great pleasure in listening to, and playing, traditional music. And he serves in a leadership role in a youth group that operates through the medium of Irish as well.
The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht provides support for this program. Participation in the Workshop is limited to 50 people. The cost is only $25.
TThis Workshop is suitable for Irish language teachers (and prospective teachers); and the sessions will be conducted entirely in Irish. There will be two class sessions, both of which will be conducted on the same day. The first session will run from 9:00 until 11:00 in the morning, and the second session will be conducted in the afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00. The Zoom ‘room’ will open at 8:30 a.m. for informal conversation before the start of the program. If you have any technical questions, Donncha Ó Coinn will be available to provide assistance before the day of the program. You will be able to contact Donncha for assistance once you have registered.
For this year only, all registrations and payments must be made through the internet. Because the Workshop will be conducted entirely online, no announcements or registration forms will be mailed out.
