    Hi,
I’m getting married soon and would like one of the prayers of the faithful in Irish. I’m just not sure I have the translation done correctly.

The English is: “For all who are victims of injustice, and for those deprived of love and affection.”

My translation is “Guimís ar son íobartachí éagóir agus dóibh siúd gan grá nó mothú ina saol”

Is there a better way to say it?

    Regards,

    Cian

For all who are victims of injustice, and for those deprived of love and affection.”

Guímis ar a son siúd arbh íospartaigh éagóra iad, agus ar a son siúd atá gan ghrá ná gean

There are two words for “victim” in Irish íobartach – sacrifical victirim, and íospartach which is the one you want

    íobairt [ainm briathartha][ainmfhocal baininscneach]
ofráil do Dhia nó do dhéithe ar altóir; an rud a ofráiltear.

    Wait for proofing!

Maith go leor, ach cloistear íospartaigh ar RnaG ag cainteoirí dúchais.

    That is much nicer, certainly.

If you can find a copy of An Pósadh: Treoracha: Léachtaí: Guí an Phobail published by An Sagart, you may find the prayer you are looking for.

The Paróiste Naomh Muire – Dingle Parish Online website has the Guí an Phobail for a funeral service, but not a wedding service. Still an interesting resource: http://naomhmuire.wordpress.com/resources/funeral-readings-gaeilge/.

    Ádh mór ort!
