Reading this great book by Dónall MacAmhlaigh. The expression “Ta lá go hÁrainn fós ann” crops up a few times. Would I be correct in interpretating it’s overall meaning as ‘the day is long yet?’. Also is it referring to the Aran Islands?
Another nice expression is ‘gan ua ná iarua’. The full sentence (lth191): Ach is furasta do leithéid Bill Dicks a bheith ag caint agus gan ua ná iarua aige lena gcothú.

ua -> grandchild
iarua -> great grandchild.

And I’d say you right about the first. Domhnaill Mac Amhlaigh spent some time as a child in Conemara, and my guess is that the sense is “there will be an opportunity yet to take a trip to Áran”
