    Since you’re from Uster, why not go with that?

    Or you could do Standard Irish.

    as a “wrinkley”, I’m from the generation which did a huge amount of Grammar in school. in all languages (but very little oral stuff,alas).

    My suggestion to anyone learning a new language, who lacks this background, is to buy yourself a simple grammar in your mother-tongue —
    not all concepts will transfer to other languages, but you’ll get a grasp of tenses, moods, clauses etc.
    And it’s much easier to understand general concepts when applied to a language you know well.

    I wouldn’t be without my trusty “Oxford Pocket English Grammar”, though for Irish I use “RéChúrsa Gramadaí” which I used in school more than 50 years ago.
